Leaders will attend university in Chile tomorrow to the presidential palace to place face to face President Sebastian Piñera on structural changes to education that require more than three months.
The university accepted the invitation to dialogue made by the president on Friday, but warned that it "is not a work table or dialogue or negotiation," according to Camila Vallejo, spokeswoman for the federation that brings together students from universities state.
"It's just a site face to face with the president of the republic and give us the response for 12 points, the repression and the projects have entered the parliament," said Vallejo.
Before the warning, Piñera called yesterday for attending the presidential palace, "with goodwill, with the intention of solving the problem, not exacerbate the problem." He added that his is a call "that you are looking to build bridges that bring us closer to solutions, not building walls continue to follow us apart."
Piñera, who has faced three months of student demonstrations of high school and college, also included in his invitation to teachers, parents and principals.
The student demands included an end to profits, elimination of private banks in the financing of education, a guarantee that they will receive a quality education, desmunicipalización of basic and secondary education and completion of the shared financing.
And now the university added two new demands: that the government clarify the murder of a teenager early Friday night in the midst of turmoil that ended with two days of unemployment in the country, and the Chilean president stop sending to Congress draft legislation related to education, "for not having been consulted with stakeholders."
